I hosted an Entrepreneur Idea Exchange in January and had the opportunity to brainstorm and share tips for success with some amazing women entrepreneurs, There were some great takeaways from the event but these were the top three: 1. Let go of your fear! Make 2015 your year and don't be afraid of hearing "no."- Too often we associate the word "no" with rejection and failure. If we're told "no" we allow it to destroy our self-esteem and we question our abilities. Think of it this way: No is not a rejection, but God's redirection. That opportunity wasn't meant for you but you have to believe something better is on the horizon. So, don't be afraid to put yourself out there and end up missing out on your "YES"! 2. Get a good support system in place to hold you accountable.- Find friends, family, mentors or business besties that will hold you accountable. People that are looking forward to your next release or product, people that will encourage you to finish what you start and people who will share how awesome you are with others. 3. Consider the seasons of your business and have a contingency plan for when business is slow.- Wealthy people all have one thing in common: they don't put all their eggs in one basket. Find a way to diversify and find multiple streams of income, so that when one leg of your business is not doing well you still have money coming in.

I've always thought of spring as a metaphor for life. We each get a chance to start over every time we awake to a new day. Relax. Refresh. Renew. Make that your mantra this spring. Take time to relax and simply breathe. Let go of all the stress and demands of life. Refresh your home with a new coat of paint or plant new flowers in your garden. Get a new hair cut or cute pair of shoes. Renew your spirit by starting a daily ritual of prayer and meditation each morning to express gratitude for all things- big and small! Take a look at your life and reassess the things that you make a priority. Life is what we make it! This is your chance to make it count. (The official start of Spring this year is March 20th!) Okay, so this post is NOT about voodoo or witchcraft, just a clever (loosely defined) play on words. This post is about hexadecimal (hex) color codes. What are hex color codes you ask? Simply put they are the color specifications used when designing websites and graphic design materials. Why are they important? I mean red is red, right? WRONG! They are important because they give your logo or brand a distinct and consistent identity. If you have a logo created and your only criteria are a blue circle and a red triangle, you can end up seeing several versions of those colors if you don't specify the exact reds and exact blues. I guess for some people the logo is more important than the colors but when your logo is based on color then there could be an issue: See what I mean? In the first box, the blue circle has a hex code of #0700F6, the second box is #1B0098 and the third box is #12AEF7. This can make a HUGE difference in how your design turns out. There are several online tools for picking the perfect color shade for your project complete with the hex color code. Here are a few of my favorite:
ColorPicker- Very simple and easy to use! You just click around on the colors and it gives you the hex code. Color Hex- Also very simple, gives you some great samples up front but allows you to also pick your own colors from the color wheel. Color Scheme Designer- This site is really cool for helping to determine a color scheme for website design. It not only gives you complimentary colors but lets you see a sample of how they would look together on a web page. Just remember to make a note of the hex color codes! This Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars song should win all the awards! I love it!! It's my FEEL GOOD song! The vibe is very reminiscent of my all time favorite R&B/Funk band: And the lyrics are fun and chock full of braggadocio- how can you NOT like it!
I'm too hot (hot damn) Called a police and a fireman I'm too hot (hot damn) Make a dragon wanna retire man I'm too hot (hot damn) If the day is going bad, I put on this song and sing out loud (while doing the dance they're doing in the video of course!) Instant mood changer! Don't believe me? JUST WATCH! What is your feel good song? Sometimes moving on from something is easier said than done. Often we allow fear to hold us back and sometimes it's simply because we've gotten comfortable and we're too lazy to do the work it will take to start over.
As I get older, I've learned that something better is always waiting if you just unclench your fingers and let go of things that no longer serve a purpose in your life. |
