Yesterday I attended the Making Things Happen webinar hosted by entrepreneurs, brand mavens and sisters, Mattie James and Maya Elious.
The sisters dropped knowledge & truth bombs on the attendees and it was an inspiration filled hour of fun. This was the one thing that stuck with me:
Very profound. This was a reference to getting "likes" on social media. Sometimes in an effort to get likes, we will make something "pretty" or talk a good game but once that's over many of us don't follow up. We don't nurture our ideas or focus on taking them the distance. As entrepreneurs we should be focused on building our business - our legacy - not focused on how many likes we're getting. I think this just speaks to something that I've said ad nauseam: we care too much what other people think and we crave their acceptance. But guess what? Those opinions don't pay your bills.
Build your brand, nurture it and watch your business grow! Everything else is just a distraction!
